Montenegro participates in shaping European policies on artificial intelligence and education

The plenary sessions of the Council of Europe Expert Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Education (EDU-IA) focused on key directions for developing European policies in AI and education. During the two-day committee meeting, special attention was given to the responsible application of AI in education, quality of education, protection of students' rights, and preserving the role of teachers in the digital transformation. Discussions included how to direct AI system implementation to support democracy and human rights, with education as a vital factor for developing autonomy, trust, and democratic resilience. In the session 'Exchange among Committee members on initiatives in AI and education,' Djuravčaj presented Montenegro's current activities in this field, including concrete steps already taken in the educational system, pilot implementation of AI solutions underway, and planned future development phases. Montenegro's participation in EDU-IA facilitates direct experience exchange with European countries and international organizations, as well as showcasing activities already underway in the Montenegrin education system. At the same time, through the Committee's work, Montenegro monitors the development of European standards and instruments guiding the responsible use of AI in education, ensuring the protection of students' rights and maintaining the key role of teachers.
