Central event 'DAYS OF DIASPORA 2026' gathers record number of people in Plav

Regardless of where you live and how far you are from your homeland, Montenegro considers you an inseparable part of it and wants its relationship with the diaspora to be even stronger, more meaningful, and lasting. By establishing the Ministry of Diaspora, the Government of Montenegro sent a clear message that it aims to further improve relations with its diaspora and build a stronger institutional framework for cooperation, connection, and joint action. Our diaspora is one of Montenegro's most valuable potentials. It carries our identity, culture, and tradition, but also partners in creating new opportunities. Our people around the world, through their work, knowledge, and successes, best demonstrate that love for the homeland does not depend on where we live, said Minister Azemović, announcing a new chapter of cooperation with our people living and working abroad. An European future for Montenegro lies ahead, bringing new opportunities for development and better connection with our diaspora worldwide. Membership in the European Union will be an opportunity to further enhance cooperation between our country and our people abroad through the exchange of knowledge, experiences, ideas, and new possibilities. We want our diaspora to be an active partner in this process – not only as bearers of the values we cherish but also as a strong bridge between Montenegro and the European space to which we belong historically, culturally, and in terms of values. Together, we can build a modern, open, and successful Montenegro, a country where every citizen will feel pride, belonging, and support from their homeland. It is our duty to build institutions that are open and accessible to all our people. We want Montenegro where every member of our diaspora knows they are respected, welcomed, and always have a home to return to, said Azemović. The 'Diaspora Days' event sends a powerful message of unity. It shows that Montenegro's doors are always open to its people, wherever they live.
