Ibrahimović: It is important to maintain the momentum of enlargement policy and demonstrate that reform results bring tangible progress

At the United Nations General Assembly, during the meeting of foreign ministers of Western Balkans countries and the 'Friends of the Western Balkans' group, chaired by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio, the focus was on preserving the momentum of enlargement policy and the region's European perspective in a complex international environment. Ibrahimović thanked Italy for the initiative and emphasized that it is important to jointly show that reforms, progress based on merit, and political commitment to Europe deliver concrete results. Our progress, however, is important for the entire region because it shows that the reform process makes sense and that the European perspective can be tangible. Ibrahimović highlighted that the Western Balkans' response to complex political circumstances should be based on intensifying reforms, strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law, economic convergence, and stronger regional cohesion around European values. He also announced a meeting of foreign ministers of the Berlin Process, to be held in Montenegro on October 1st, which will be an opportunity to discuss the region's European perspective, regional cooperation, and the shared responsibility to keep the Western Balkans firmly connected with the European Union.
