Šahmanović: A country that does not recognize its mineral resources cannot responsibly plan its future
On the contrary, we want to explore our actual potentials through the most advanced geological research so that every future decision is based on reliable data, in accordance with sustainable development principles and with maximum environmental protection, said Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović on the occasion of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Montenegro and Xcalibur Multiphysics Group S.L. The signing established a framework for cooperation in preparing the national Aero-Geophysical Mapping Program of Montenegro, which will systematically collect high-quality geological data of the entire territory using the most modern technologies for the first time. Šahmanović emphasized that quality geological data are important not only for better understanding the country's mineral potential but also for making responsible development decisions that equally protect nature and public interests. Only a country with quality data can make responsible decisions, plan sustainable development, and ensure that each natural resource is valorized with full respect for the highest standards of environmental protection and local community interests. The memorandum foresees cooperation in preparing the technical concept of the Aero-Geophysical Mapping Program of Montenegro, exchange of expertise and experience, definition of research methodology, and consideration of possible financing models for the future implementation of the project. Knowing the potentials at the country's disposal is not an end in itself; it is a prerequisite for making responsible decisions, preserving natural resources, and their sustainable valorization for the benefit of citizens, economic development, and Montenegro's European future.
