Police officers identified a person suspected of sending a letter to the Parliament of Montenegro – European Union; person detained on suspicion of endangering security

Police officers from the Regional Security Center "Center" – Podgorica Security Department, after several days of activities aimed at identifying an unknown person who sent letters to the Parliament of Montenegro, certain MPs, and other law enforcement agencies with various contents, identified R.V. (64) from Podgorica. We remind that on July 22, 2026, officers from the Podgorica Security Department, after seeing a publication by MP Nikola Zirojević in the media regarding the letter, voluntarily called MP Zirojević to come to the police station to give a statement regarding the incident. On that day, MP Zirojević confirmed in his statement that the letter addressed to the European Union arrived at the offices of the parliamentary club of this political alliance on July 20, 2026. The police, working to establish all facts, took numerous measures including video surveillance, searches at two locations, and other activities in coordination with the relevant prosecutor, which led to the identification and detention of R.V., who is suspected of committing a criminal offense of endangering security against MP Zirojević.
