Most municipalities and rescue services have completed the inspection of concrete cover graves
A majority of the country's municipalities and rescue services have completed their inspections of concrete cover graves before the deadline of March 15, 2026. There are significant differences in the number of concrete cover graves each municipality and rescue service is responsible for, and the size of each municipality's task. The Danish Emergency Management Agency has been in dialogue with four municipalities and four municipal rescue services regarding deadline extensions. While the remaining inspections are being carried out, the agency is continuously reviewing the reports received. It is currently not possible to draw final conclusions about capacity until the overall analysis is complete. The inspection of protective shelters was initiated in October 2025 with a pilot inspection conducted by selected municipalities and rescue services. A concrete cover grave is one of several types of protective shelters and is an open structure made of concrete that can be used as a shelter.
