NLnet announces 60 projects strenghtening the digital commons

In its first phase, Borg grew from a single floating-point unit into a complete, autonomous tile-based-rendering pipeline with texture mapping, multi-lane SIMT fragment shading, and a native Vulkan driver that runs the unmodified Khronos vkcube demo on a $100 FPGA board — and it reached real silicon with a taped-out ASIC (IHP 130nm), to our knowledge the first open-source GPU design to do so. Lowering the price of a base station from tens of thousands to only about 200 euros worth of hardware, while keeping the ecosystem free from vendor lock-in and licensing issues, the project will give new purpose to large amounts of near e-waste handheld TETRA radios, which may then easily be used for resilient wireless communication - be it through a single stand-alone BlueStation cell, or through a network of base stations interconnected through the internet. This project will address this gap by designing and creating a reference implementation of a new Content Security Policy (CSP) directive for Chromium-based browsers, namely `block-named-access`, that websites can trivially deploy to robustly eliminate all instances of potential DOM clobbering vulnerabilities in their pages. Lowering the price of a base station from tens of thousands to only about 200 euros worth of hardware, while keeping the ecosystem free from vendor lock-in and licensing issues, the project will give new purpose to large amounts of near e-waste handheld TETRA radios, which may then easily be used for resilient wireless communication - be it through a single stand-alone BlueStation cell, or through a network of base stations interconnected through the internet. This project turns that capability into domain-agnostic infrastructure for the Linked Open Data commons: streaming import adapters for RDF/N-Triples and JSON-LD, an open proof-export format that publishes complete derivation chains as Linked Data, a reusable library of constraint rules covering common ontology semantics, and a web-based proof explorer that lets anyone trace a derived fact back to its evidence.
