Another Container of Meat with Expired Use-By Date Stopped

The Customs Administration in the Port of Bar stopped a transit shipment of frozen beef intended for a Kosovo-based company, Apetit SHPK, after inspection revealed that the meat had expired. The inspection covered a container with a total of 1,321 packages, gross weight 24,650 kg, and confirmed that the meat's use-by date had expired on 14.05.2026. We remind that in a previous case, the Customs Administration halted transit procedures for three containers of beef, totaling 77,841.03 kg, after it was found that original declarations with expired use-by dates had been removed and replaced with declarations showing different dates. Communications with neighboring customs administrations revealed that irregularities involving this company were also identified in Durrës Port, with information exchanged with relevant authorities. The World Customs Organization was also notified of these events to alert other customs administrations about this method of meat distribution. In these two cases, the Customs Administration stopped transit of beef totaling 102,491.03 kg, nearly 103 tons.
