Ivanović with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria: Montenegro and Bulgaria are strongly committed to further improving cooperation

During the second day of his working visit to Sofia, Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Dr. Filip Ivanović, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev. They discussed Montenegro's European path, bilateral relations, and opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries. Radev congratulated Montenegro on its significant progress on its European journey, highlighting it as a positive example of a country strongly committed to transformation and institutional improvement. He emphasized that the two countries are NATO allies and expressed hope that they will soon be together within the European Union. Ivanović presented the '28 to 28' goal and Montenegro's dedication to fulfilling remaining obligations and completing the accession negotiations by the end of the year, with the aim of signing the accession treaty and joining the EU in 2028. The interlocutors assessed Montenegro-Bulgaria political relations as excellent and friendly, agreeing that additional efforts are needed to strengthen cooperation in other areas to reach the level of political relations. They also discussed the importance of better connectivity between Montenegro and Bulgaria, including transport and air links, as a crucial prerequisite for intensifying business, tourism, and other contacts.
