Dukaj: Interculturalism is built through everyday encounters, dialogue, and mutual respect

The representative of the Directorate for Interculturalism of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Mr. Kristjan Dukaj, participated in the final event of the project "Step Towards the Other – Intercultural Montenegro," organized by the NGO MASTER. Addressing those present, Dukaj emphasized that Montenegro is a country of rich cultural, religious, linguistic, and national diversity, and that this diversity is one of the greatest values of our society and the foundation of a community based on mutual respect, equal opportunities, and active participation of all citizens. He highlighted that interculturalism is not only part of strategic documents and public policies but also a way of thinking and acting that involves openness to others, willingness to learn, and acceptance of differences as advantages. Speaking about the importance of projects promoting mutual understanding, Dukaj assessed that in modern society, initiatives that contribute to strengthening tolerance, solidarity, and social cohesion, as well as reducing prejudices and building a community where every individual feels accepted, respected, and equal, are particularly important. He especially emphasized the importance of involving youth in promoting intercultural values, noting that through education, exchange of experiences, and joint activities, awareness of human rights, tolerance, and responsible citizenship is developed. Dukaj conveyed that the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and the Directorate for Interculturalism will continue to support programs and projects that contribute to building an equal society and strengthening mutual trust among all citizens of Montenegro.
