Minister Jojić hosted representatives of the Cycling Association of Montenegro

The Minister of Sports and Youth, Zoran Jojić, met with representatives of the Cycling Association of Montenegro, President Dejan Popović and Secretary Vanja Banović, to discuss the possibility of Montenegro hosting certain stages of one of the most prestigious world cycling races - "Giro d’Italia" in the upcoming period. The representatives informed the minister about information arising from discussions between the representatives of the Montenegrin Embassy in Bulgaria and the executive director of RCS Sports & Events, Paolo Belino, the organizer of the Giro d’Italia, held during this year's race in Bulgaria. During the meeting, it was emphasized that organizing stages of this prestigious cycling race would represent an excellent opportunity for international promotion of Montenegro as an attractive sports and tourist destination. It was particularly highlighted that the Giro d’Italia attracts hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide, while the race itself gathers a large number of competitors, professional team members, media crews, and tourists, generating significant promotional, tourist, and economic effects for the host countries. It was assessed that, considering the complexity of planning and organizing, a candidacy to host certain stages could be feasible by 2028. Minister Jojić expressed the full readiness of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Cycling Association of Montenegro, tourism authorities, and other relevant institutions, to support all activities aimed at exploring the possibilities of realizing this important project.
