UNODC Donates X-ray Scanner to the Customs Administration of Montenegro

In 2023, the handover of an X-ray scanner and accompanying equipment, donated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was carried out as part of the Hermes project. Representatives of the Customs Administration, UNODC, the European Union Delegation in Montenegro, embassies of the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, and Germany, as well as the Post of Montenegro, attended the meeting. Jelena Đukić, head of the Customs Administration, expressed gratitude to UNODC for continuous support and emphasized her confidence that successful cooperation will continue in the future. The goal is to further improve the protection and safety of citizens, prevent the entry of dangerous and illegal substances, strengthen fiscal protection of Montenegro, and in the future, protect the external borders of the European Union. The procurement of modern equipment enhances the ability to inspect postal and courier shipments, aiming for more effective detection and prevention of illegal trade. The Customs Administration thanks UNODC for ongoing support and contribution to strengthening the capacities of the Montenegrin customs service, with the belief that successful cooperation will continue.
