Establishment of a System for Regular Inspection of Pesticide Application Devices in Montenegro

The Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Affairs Directorate successfully implemented one of the activities outlined in the National Plan for Sustainable Pesticide Use by establishing a system for regular inspections of pesticide application devices in Montenegro. The regular inspections aim to ensure the technical correctness and safety of plant protection products application, reduce risks to human, animal, and environmental health, and contribute to more efficient pesticide use in agriculture. In accordance with current regulations, all pesticide application devices are subject to periodic inspections to verify their technical condition, functionality, and compliance with prescribed requirements. To support farmers and other users in fulfilling this legal obligation, the Directorate has provided financial support through the Phytosanitary Measures Program, making device certification currently free of charge for users. The Directorate invites all owners and users of pesticide application devices to perform timely periodic inspections, maintain their equipment regularly, and participate in training programs, thereby jointly contributing to safer food production, health protection, and environmental preservation.
