Update from the Summer of Nix
As you may know, NLnet leads a unique collaboration of non-profit organizations called NGI Zero, which provides funding and support for free and open source software and hardware projects. These packages are independent, allowing you to mix and match software across different layers. The Summer of Nix is a major effort to package NGI-related projects into Nix, with about 45 volunteers across 6 teams working throughout the summer. They shared experiences and links to their work, including efforts to package OpenFoodFacts, a collaborative database of over a million products worldwide. The blog details how Nix interacts with Perl modules and how a packager overcame challenges to improve the process.
