New funding opportunity to strengthen Cyber Hubs now open for applications
National and Cross-Border Cyber Hubs are a result of the EU Cyber Solidarity Act, which aims to establish the European Cybersecurity Alert System to strengthen Europe's capacity to detect, analyse and respond to cyber threats. Bringing together National and Cross-Border Cyber Hubs across the EU, the system will make use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics, to improve threat detection and facilitate the cross-border sharing of alerts and warnings among relevant authorities.
National Cyber Hubs act as the primary national entities responsible for collecting, analysing, and correlating cybersecurity data, serving as reference points and gateways to national CSIRTs, ISACs, and other competent authorities.
Cross-Border Cyber Hubs interconnect these national nodes, enabling a pan-European exchange of cyber threat intelligence (CTI), supporting real-time situational awareness, and fostering joint analysis and mitigation of threats that transcend national borders.
The funding mechanism includes two interrelated calls: a call for expression of interest and a call for proposals. Each applicant will have to apply to both workstreams.
Applications must cover both workstreams and will be subject to an evaluation procedure. Grants will be awarded only to applicants that successfully pass the evaluation of the Joint Procurement Action.
These actions are implemented under the Cyber Solidarity Act and subject to the security restrictions of Article 12(5) of the Digital Europe Programme Regulation, ensuring that participating entities are EU-controlled and aligned with the Union’s security interests.
Digital Europe Programme is implemented by multiannual work programmes and supports investments in the following sectors: High Performance Computing; Cloud, data and Artificial Intelligence; Cybersecurity and Advanced digital skills.
The ECCC implements the ‘Specific Objective 3: Cybersecurity and Trust’ from the DEP Regulation (EU) 2021/694. The Digital Europe Cybersecurity Work Programme for 2025-2027 and its amendments complement the main DEP WP and are approved by the ECCC Governing Board.
Digital Europe Programme is financed by the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union.
