Training of plant protection product users held in Pljevlja

The Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Affairs Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, the Institute of Public Health, and the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and the North, organized training sessions for plant protection product users. Through presentations, farmers were introduced to key concepts related to pesticide application, methods and timing, determining the necessary dose/concentration, protective measures, disposal of empty containers after treatment, and more. After successfully completing the training and testing, participants received a certificate of completion of the specialist course, which will authorize them to purchase plant protection products. These trainings are a key activity in establishing the EU system for the trade and use of pesticides, under which only individuals with valid certification will be able to buy such products. Advisory services represent the first and most important contact with users of plant protection products, and their contribution to establishing a system of safe and proper pesticide use is of exceptional importance. Completed education, possession of certification, and proper record-keeping of pesticide use are essential elements in building a system that ensures safe, responsible, and sustainable plant production.
