Joint Statement of the Police Department and the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje

Months-long police and prosecution activities led to the clarification of a serious murder case in Berane: a citizen of Azerbaijan was identified as a suspect in the murder of his compatriot. The prolonged cooperation between the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje and the Regional Security Center 'North' resulted in evidence suggesting that the Azerbaijani citizen S.R. (56) committed the crime against S.F. (24), also from Azerbaijan. The complexity of this case involved an unidentified victim and unknown perpetrator, posing significant challenges. The suspect took actions to conceal the crime, including moving and hiding the victim's body, and shortly after, left Montenegro via a neighboring country. He also attempted to destroy evidence and hinder identification. The identification of the victim, S.F., was confirmed through autopsy, DNA analysis, and international data exchange, establishing his identity as a 24-year-old Azerbaijani citizen.
