Radulović: More than half a million euros in fines issued during maritime inspections
In September, maritime safety inspectors from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs conducted around 1,500 inspections at sea, issuing a total of 530,000 euros in fines for identified violations. Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović stated that in May, fines amounted to 19,400 euros; in June, 137,300 euros; in July, 204,800 euros; and in August, 168,500 euros. He emphasized that during the entire previous season, approximately 87,000 euros in violation notices were issued. The minister explained that the goal of intensified controls is not punishment for its own sake but improving safety at sea and consistent enforcement of regulations. Additionally, inspectors recorded violations such as unauthorized distances from the coast and swimmers, excessive passenger numbers on vessels, and registration irregularities. These are mostly recurring violations that we will continue to combat, Radulović concluded.
