The Oil Derivatives Market in Montenegro Is Stable, with Regular and Uninterrupted Supply
Representatives of leading oil companies confirmed that fuel imports and distribution are proceeding smoothly, supply chains are stable, and there are currently no disruptions that could jeopardize the regular supply of the domestic market. The meeting focused on current developments in the global and regional oil derivatives market, their potential impact on Montenegro, and activities to further strengthen supply security through the establishment of mandatory reserves. The Ministry explained that decisions on excise duty adjustments are made amid fluctuating market prices, when it is necessary to respond quickly to market developments, while efforts are made to ensure that information about government decisions is made available to businesses as soon as possible. In this context, it was emphasized that the Ministry of Energy and Mining has fulfilled all obligations under Negotiating Chapter 15 – Energy, with significant progress also achieved in the area of oil and oil derivatives. The adoption of amendments to the Law on Security of Supply of Oil Derivatives and the Crisis Plan for Addressing Supply Disruptions has further improved the regulatory framework and strengthened the state’s readiness to respond to potential market disruptions. The Ministry of Energy and Mining stated that, in cooperation with the relevant institutions and oil companies, it will continue to monitor market developments and implement activities to establish mandatory reserves.
