Current Works on Energy Renovation of Elementary Schools 'Ilija Kišić' and 'Veljko Drobnjaković'
The works to improve the energy efficiency of the elementary schools 'Ilija Kišić' in Herceg Novi and 'Veljko Drobnjaković' in Risan began at the end of June and are proceeding as planned. During the renovation, adjustments to the organization of classes and daily school operations will be necessary. This is a temporary phase, after which students and teachers will have better, safer, and more modern conditions for learning and working. Investments include warmer and more comfortable classrooms, safer and more functional spaces, better working conditions for teachers, and a higher quality environment for children’s growth and learning. The works involve installing thermal insulation on facade walls and roofs, new facade joinery and sun protection, replacing the heating system with environmentally friendly heat pumps, upgrading electrical installations, installing new LED lighting, renovating sanitary facilities, and adapting buildings for persons with reduced mobility. The projects are part of the 'Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings of Montenegro – Greening Public Infrastructure' initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Mining in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, with financial support from KfW Development Bank and the European Union through loans and grants, with contributions from the Government of Montenegro.
